The recent ‘Grime4Corbyn’ campaign combines the power of social media with the influence grime has over mass groups of young British folks to create a hugely important call to action: voting for the future of the country.
Forget the seemingly false promises gargled out by politicians that can be so easily ignored by the younger generation, who maybe don’t understand—or believe—the effect this could have upon their future; this approach is way cooler. Dozens of influential artists have flocked together to reach out to young people in the form of creating a ‘Grime4Corbyn’ invite-only rave in London. If you want in, all you have to do is register to vote! It’s a genius call to action, and one that won’t go ignored.
People have got right on board with the campaign and joined in with the activity, listing Jeremy Corbyn as a founding member and current artist of the Boy Better Know record label on Wikipedia. It just goes to show that it doesn’t always pay to be ultra-serious in politics! JME even joined forces with the Labour candidate and did a Snapchat takeover to urge young people to raise their voices.
When combining a powerful political force with a hugely influential musician, the effects are hard to ignore. We’d like to see the other parties take on such a bold campaign…
